My goal is to "record" on to the C drive &/Or burn to a CD a number of old audio style standard cassettes
I have a player and a line out & in to the computer.
    I’m wondering what else I need…to do & get & down load..

I called Dell about my dell dimension 3100/E310 and asked if there was a sound card already in the machine [over 2 years old now…]
They said there was an "Internal 2.0 channel Audio" included
    I told them what I wanted to do…they weren’t sure…

Does anybody know if I need to down load’ WAV editing’ software or "˜Sound Forge XP’? anywhere good to get?
The PC [dell dimension 3100/E310] has a DVD /CD burner and 'Roxio' already!
    Thanks
    E

    Audacity works great!
Be sure to also dowbload LAME in zip format, extract the files and put the lame encoder dll in c/windows/system32 directory. Then in Audacity preferences > file formats browse to locate that dll. You can then convert the recordings from wav to mp3.
