I am looking to update Word 2000 autotexts and dictionary to Word 2007. Do you have any ideas on where to find a means of doing so? OS on 2000 is Windows ME and 2007 will be Vista Business.

(There is an additional slight complication in that the profiles are slightly messed up, with multiple profiles for the same user, some profiles are windows generated so showing <userprofile>.001 so if there is a registry entry which points to file locations, this could save a lot of trouble. However, not to worry if nothing like this is available, I assume it will simply become a case of trial and error...?)

alphasure - Welcome to the Board :)

You may have a bit of a problem here ....

In Word versions prior to 2007 .....

Normal.dot: Stores formatted AutoCorrect entries, AutoText entries, keyboard shortcuts, menu customizations, custom toolbars, styles, macros.

acl file: Stores unformatted AutoCorrect entries (the majority of your AutoCorrect entries).

custom.dic: Words you add during spell-check.

In Word 2007 the file format is different and normal.dot is normal.dotm - I doubt you could simply rename the file extension for the old normal.dot file and copy across, but worth a try of course.

The Autocorrect file keeps the same extension as does Custom.dic- copying across may work.
