I decided to increase the security of my laptop, which I shall be taking abroad later this year, by creating an encrypted partition on the drive to contain sensitive/personal data using TrueCrypt.

One of the folders in the drive is shared on my home network for the purpose of transferring/updating from my desktop.

Each time the laptop is shut down the share is lost The share is not lost by dismounting the encrypted volume and then remounting - while the laptop remains booted up.

Any thoughts/workarounds or is that the way it is?

    Hi Pete
See article - (two-thirds down the page)
Have no working knowledge with TrueCrypt. I'm just going by the logic share is lost due to encrypted folder / mounting does NOT occur after reboot The article above pertains to portable version, so it may/may not be applicable to your problem / solution. ???

Genius :) Automount seems to have done the trick!

I avoided that option thinking that it would mount without user intervention - i.e. no request for a password. Clearly a senior moment - again :D as that is not the case - password is requested as one would expect when thinking clearly :)

    Thanks.
