dc power jack

    i have a dell inspiron 2600 and the dc power jack was failing on it...i changed the jack but now im getting nothing...i changed a few of them before and this is the 1st time this happened to me...what can be the problem...i dont know if i burned the board out if thats possible or if the problem was the board from the start...i'll greatly appreciate any help if possible...thank you very much for your time and help...

    It is very possible the mobo shorted out. You'd pretty much have to take it all a part and look for burnt soldier.

    Very likely you burned some traces on your board. This is not a repair for do-it-yourselfers regardless of skill. Now its decision time - do you send your machine out for repair knowing that board replacement will run you $300-400 or do you buy a factory refurb at $399.
