I have a desktop computer that is connected through wire for the internet and there is a wireless router connected to it the desktop is running on windows xp. I am trying to connect my laptop wirelessly, the laptop is running on vista. When i connect to the internet wirelessly on the laptop in the same room as the router my signal strength is only 45%. Then as a move out of the room to somewhere else in the house i obviously cant connect to the wireless router at all. Can someone help me.

Changing the channel number in the router sometimes helps with connection and speed problems.

Change it by a factor of 6, e.g. if it’s currently 12 make it 6 or if it’s currently 1 make it 7, etc.

Additionally if your router is close to an eletric motor or heavy wireing or Floresent lighting (especially if ballast is going bad) then move it usually high if possible and away from these.
