If I run Nero Ahead, finish recording a CD, exit/shutdown the app, and then try to open Nero Ahead again, I get the following message:
"Another application is currently using the Windows burning engine (IMAPI). Please quit the other application and start Nero again. "

I go to task manager, successfully end the IMAPI process, but there is still an entry for nero.exe despite already having exited the app. Try to use "End Process" to close nero.exe but it will not close.

Tried to use Command prompt "tskill Nero" but this doesn't shut it down either. Am I using the the wrong command prompt?

Only way to get Nero Ahead to run again is a reboot.

Anyone else have this problem or know of a solution?

Stop and disable the IMAPI Service.

    Can't Stop Nero.EXE

Task manager does end the IMAPI process but not the nero.exe process.

Even after exiting Nero the process keeps running.

What version of Nero? With mine, Imapi is set to "manual ", starts with Nero, and closes with Nero (version 5599).

Yes I can confirm this happens as it did for me a while back. That was with version 5.5.9.0 and only way I could fix was to reboot, which was a pain when you're on a Modem connection. Haven't noticed it with 5.5.9.9 but then again haven't used this version since installing.
