I would appreciate help for me to uninstall programs. Get the message. Windows Installer service could not be accessed. This can occur if doing this in safe mode or if installer is not correctly installed. I have tried everything to correct this problem but cannot.

Would appreciate help. Have gone into registry also.. This applies also to removal of Quick time.

Thanks for your help from Mattie

    Hi Mattie

If still no joy after Pete's link above do the below!

    Download then run Dial-A-Fix (DAF)
    http://wiki.djlizard.net/Dial-a-fix#...C_and_articles

Have XP CD available in case DAF needs a file. Likely will not be needed!

Check all boxes on the screen (clear any restrictions if it shows any)
    Then click GO!

Watch for any File not found or other errors and make note as this may be your problem and should lead to the fix!

Reboot try the Installer and get back with results.

I still cannot get windows installer to remove programs from add/remove on XPSP2. I did a new install but not working.

This is complicated for me.. Must be an easier way to get around the problem

    Thanks Mattie

    Slow down.

Give more details. It may not be easy for you but it is easy for us "IF" you give good descriptions of what you need fixed.

Now I do understand that the Windows Installer is giving an error.

My question is what do you mean by a new install? What did you install?

And did you do my process with Dial-A-Fix in my last post?

    windows installer

Thanks for reply.. when I uninstall quicktime it says windows installer service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are in safe mode or that windows installer is not correctly installed. Only happens on quicktime and adobe reader.

what I did install was KB893803-v2-x86 under the posting above.

will not run dial-a-fix too complicated for me.

Thanks for your help.. maybe i will get this solved... Mattie:confused:
