In display properties, screen resolution will not stay on 1024 x 768 setting but reverts to lowest setting of 800 x 600 each time at shutdown and then has to be reset at bootup.

A re-installation of the graphics driver may resolve this - you should find the driver on the Dell site.

Thanks PeteC for that info. Interesting though that the first driver was not effective and I had to download a previous version which was effective.
They tried to "talk" me out of this with the question "Are you sure you want the older version when you currently have the latest? ":)

Glad to hear the problem is resolved - it is often the case that the older driver works better - go figure :)

    That's disappointing :(

I would be inclined to reload/update the chipset drivers for the motherboard - hopefully you will find these at Dell.
