Is there a way I can listen on headphones, plugged into the jacks on the front of the computer, and have the desktop speakers, also plugged into jacks on the back of the computer play simultaneously?
I am using WIN XP Home SP2.
    Thanks.
The speakers are playing through a Realtek AC97 Audio Card(?)
When the earphones are plugged in, it stops the desktop speakers from playing.

A strange request which needs some clarification :)

With the headphones on surely you cannot hear the speakers? And if the speakers are on why do you need the headphones?

I use the headphone which has a mike to talk on Skype with my daughter. My computer does not have a mike, otherwise I would use it with desktop speakers.
So, if I am not going to be doing Skype and I want to hear music, I have to unplug the headphones. That means leaning over and unplugging the headphone and then having to lean over again with a flashlight to reinsert the plugs when I want to use Skype again. It is a pain in the butt.
    Does that make sense?

Plug only the microphone cable of the headphones in the computer, not the 'speaker' part of the headphones.

Hi Ackerberg, I have the same thing , you can buy a splitter ( double adapter) for about $6.00, and I have that plugged into speaker jack on the back of the PC and both the speakers and the headset plugged into it, I just hang the headset behind the monitor and just use it for Skype & Messenger Live.
My new VX-1000 life cam has a really good microphone in it and now only use the earphones for privacy.
    Cheers Des.:)

    Arie,
Thank you. It works fine with just the mike plugged in and the sound coming from the desktop speakers.

    Headset Jack Splitter

Get a headset phone splitter from Wal-mart, Radio Shack, etc. Then plug it into the back of the computer speaker output port. Finally, connect one side of the splitter to the speaker jack, and the other side to the headset jack. The sound will be provided equally to both devices.) Hope this is what you were looking to accomplish.
