Error 82 not open destination file

    I am trying to copy from a source file on C: to E: which is a thumb drive.

    It has worked well until I just received an error message # 82 "Could not open destination file "

    I cannot find any answers at the MS support page.

    The "thumb" is not full.

    What could be the problem?

    Am using XP PRO.

    Did you have the file in question open at the time?

    Try rebooting the pc and go straight to trying to copy.

    No the file was not open, but I erased all and started over again and this time it worked.
