Hi everyone , I am employed as a manager in a firm. I have a problem that I had like to talk about. My system was working fine the other day, but while copying a file by nero….the system hanged and I had to restart it. But I got a disk boot failure error. Then , I tried to run a windows xp installation CD, but that is also showing some error message during installation and the installation fails.I did check the bios settings and the disk fails to show…and had it checked on another system also…but bios cannot detect the hard disk.I think the disk is damaged or something like that. The disk has important data from my company’s point of view…..that I need to recover.
Please let me know if there are any ways to get my data back from this disk!!!!

    2 words !

Geek Squad ;) Past experience has taught me that unless you already have some experience in screwing up a HD gone bad by taking it appart yourself ----let the people who have all the right testing and diagnosing equipment at their finger tips do it for you . Trust me on 2 things ---If you company considers this info valuable and important----Ya gotta be able to recover it --- and if you try your self and fail ---well you can almost bet there will be reprocussions of some sort from the boss , and ya probably won't like it ! So just trot on down to your local Best buy carrying your little fork in the road and tell them whats up -----in a few days you'll have all your recovered data and you will still have your job without the headakes from trying to interpret all the info we would have to explain to you here to attempt to get it back --------Good luck , post back and lemme know what ya decided and how it went .:)

As to a solution - Elvis, there are a few contradictions in your post. You wouldn't be able to do an installation (even a failed one) if your machine (BIOS) didn't recognize the HDD. This could be as simple as a bad cable or it may require sending your drive out for recovery. I'd suggest taking this to a qualified technician and if he or she diagnoses this as a bad HDD, then ask for a recommendation to outsource data recovery. Your costs can be expected to run into 4 figures if the drive is actually hosed.

    ;)
