I have recently installed Windows 2000 as a fresh copy. I have read that by holding the windows key and pushing L the computer should lock. This doesnt happen. All the other window key + shortcuts work. Of course i can still C+A+D and click lock, but would prefer a shorter way. Anyone know why this doesnt work?

    Thanks,
    Paul

    Yeah I guess thats possible.
I saw it on http://www.labmice.net/articles/keyboard.htm which was why I thought.

OK, next question then, is it actually possible to make a shortcut to do it? Is there a command line to lock the computer, because then its easy to make a shortcut to it?

    Thanks for the help

    Paul

Create a new short cut with the following command line:
    %windir%\System32\rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation

PaulC - if you tweak your "experience" listing to leave a space, it won't shove your user ID information so far to the right.

intermediate / experienced will do it nicely and allow wrap-around.

Bursley : Thanks, got it working with a shortcut now. Put it in the start menu at the top, so now, just have to push the windows key then push L and it locks. No more holding the windows key, which is probably easier anyway!

Newt : Thanks for the tip
