Hi,
I have a weird problem with some pictures my friend sent me.
They are there as attachments.
However, when I click on the attachment I get the viewer box and the message 'no preview available'.
I know they are there because each jpg file has the amount of kb they contain.
One anomaly I did notice was the description of the file starts with these capitol letters DSCN.
So the file reads like this DSCN000389.JPG(454KB)
Does this mean the file is dependent on a disc or some format I do not have to open the file.:confused:

Did it happen to just that one set of pictures, from one particular person?
If so, did you contact him, if those pictures open for him, ask him to resend, maybe?
What program do you use to open pictures?

Yes, This is the very first time I have ever had any problem opening pictures. I do not know what kind of OS he is using...If it is a Mac and I am using Windows would that create the problem?
I forgot to add that I am using Outlook 2003 for Email.
The box that appears when I am attempting to view is named 'Windows Picture and Fax Viewer'.

Hey Broni,
Here's the latest about the pictures. My friend said he could view the pictures ...HOWEVER he mentioned that they were all in a collection when he sent them to me and the file amounted to 3.5 MB....Well I received individual files of various KB.How could that have happened?

I guess, you have to ask your friend to resend the file. Ask him what format is that file in, so we know.

Instead of clicking on the attachment, double-click it.

Hey Arie,
As I previously posted I do double click on the attachment and my Windows Picture and Fax viewer does appear but with the message No Preview Availanble.
Hey Arie....Since I have your attention I have a question about these posting features....Everytime I try to resize my text I click on size and never get a choice...All that appears is a tiny vertacle rectangle but no numbers show up. So this feature does not work for me...What could be wrong???

Hey Broni,
My friend has resent the files again this time just 3 seperate files should up all JPG files..But no Preview....Just won't let me see what he sent...I have never had this problem before...Every picture others have sent me showed up without hesitation.

Nothing wrong. I don't want people to use different sizes.

I just received one of those pictures from blakston6286, and when I opened his mail, the picture was already visible in Thunderbird. I also saved it to my hrad drive, and it opened from there, as well.

Hey Broni,
I got the picture you were able to open successfully....Thank you for sending it back to me.
Now I am totally confused as to why in the world can't I open the files???????:confused::confused:

What program did your computer use to open the picture?
I sent it to you as an attachment but you stated that it showed up right away...Does that mean it showed up like an insert instead of an attachment?
I tried to register on your site but your system messaged me that it would not accept my email addy. I am beginning to feel I may be in a different Dimension than everyone else. Nothing is seeming to work normal lately.

My friend uses Bell South DSL No AOL either.

I checked with the info on the link that Arie sent me and the settings do not apply to either my friend or me.

The more I start to think I am understanding this stuff the more I end up mistaken...
Again. Thank you for sending the opened picture back to me.....
Aryan

I use Thunderbird as my email program, and the picture you sent me was visible in a message body, and it was attached, as well.
I saved attached picture, and I opened it with Irfanview, which is my default image program.
I totally don't understand why you can't open that picture, but you can see it, if I send it back to you.

Some infos of picture will be loss when the picture was copyed and pasted many times, it may be the cause of why you can not view the picture with Windows picture and fax viewer. You can download a new viewer software; or you can request your fridends to compress the pictures in a archive with WinRAR or WinMount.
Wish this can help you!;)
