This is weird, If I try and open a site from the destop or favorites from the start menu, the page will open then go back to the desktop all with in 1 to 2 seconds, But if I open the email or homepage from the keyboard short cut these no issue, or if a site is open I can switch to another site from the favorites. Is there a spyware thats doing this.

Glad to hear that - care to share the solution for others in the future?

Can we clarify one or two points ....

    IE 6 or 7?

If you open IE and click on a Favourite it works as expected?

It is desktop shortcuts to web links that display this behaviour.

I don't have Favourites in my Start menu - running XP in Classic Mode so they may not show there in that mode or I may have removed them - no idea.

In IE go Help > About

If you do indeed have 7 and the menu bar is not showing right click on a blank area above the main pane and put a check mark against 'Menu' by clicking on it in the dropdown menu.

Also let me know if you are running SP3 and .....

Yes its version 7, and XP home addition 2002 SP3. The only way to get IE to open is restart the PC, I haven't formatted yet but will let you know if it helps with this issue,

    If not too late .....

Ununstall SP3 through Add/Remove Programs, then uninstall IE7 - once SP3 is installed IE7 cannot be removed. This will roll you back to IE6.

See if the problem still exists. If solved reload SP3 followed by IE7 - order important as you will then be able to uninstall IE7 at a later date without removing SP3 first.
