My windows installer service won't start. I believe this is because msiexec.exe cannot be registered. When I run msiexec.exe /regserver, an error message is returned. It says: "An event was unable to invoke a subscriber. "

I cannot start the installer service manually. It tries to start (some progress is shown on the progress bar), but then stops, saying "Windows Installer Service has stopped. "

I tried msiexec.exe /regserver in safe mode, and got the same error message.

I cannot install any programs that require the installer service.

    Any ideas appreciated.
