I am putting together a simple PC to run Media Center. I am using the following parts:

    1. Celeron Processor 440, 2 GHz, 512k L2 Cache, 800 MHz FSB
    2. Foxconn 945P7AA-8KS2 LGA 775 Intel 945P ATX Intel Motherboard
    3. MSI NX8400GS-TD256E GeForce 8400GS 256MB 64-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16
    4. CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
    5. LOGISYS Computer PS480D-BK 480W ATX12V Power Supply
I am not getting video when turning the system on. In addition, the power button will work to turn it on, but it will not work to turn it off. I have removed the RAM to see if it could be causing any issue. I have tried a different video card, PNY GeForce 6600. I have tried a 750W Corsair Power supply. I got the same result each time. Is there something else I can try, or will this process just not work with this motherboard?

Did you set the choice of video to use in bios?

Disconnect all of your pinouts from the case to the motherboard and use the blade of a small screwdriver to bridge (temporarily) the two pinouts on the motherboard for the PWR Switch. You'll also have to do this again to turn it off.

    ;)

From past experience with Foxconn motherboards and also reading about them, they have "issues" with the CPU if it is not on the compatibility list. A Celeron 440 is not on their list:

If you need to change the processor, be aware that you need to change the thermal compound between the processor and the heatsink.

The m/b I was working on has never "reset" after having the wrong processor put into it. If you have a choice, I suggest you return the m/b for one that will run your processor.

    Good luck.

    Matt
