Hi ... I'm using XP pro now and I am happy with this OS , it does everything I need for now . My question is I see Vista upgrade is so cheap now and I am thinking of getting it . I have the specs for it but I am curious to know if it will be a good move or not ? Is there any problems with the Upgrade version ? It comes with sp1 . Thanks

This is a real common question...

Some would say "if it ain't broken don't fix it. "

Others would say that Vista is here to stay and learning the ins and outs would be a good thing....

Do you have at least teo gigs of ram?

Hi Steve , Thanks so far with your comments . My computer has the hardware to handle Vista . I have one 2gb kingston hyperX DDR2 stick of ram . I have the Asus P5K Premium/WiFi-AP and the ATI 512mb 3870 card . Though i'm curious if there any issues with the upgrade version . Most of all I like to know what people like about Vista . For me its not a must have , I can live with xp just fine but i'm curious about Vista . Thanks

Thanks for the link Pete . It would seem like 50/50 but I notice people who do like Vista like it with 64 bits . I'm not sure what to do yet , time will tell .

    Thanks

I'd steer clear of x86 instead!

I do not see the point. I'm running Vista x64 on my laptop; runs great. I also run Vista x86 (that's the 32-bit version) on my desktop. runs OK too..

When I bought a new laptop, it came with Vista (Business 32 bit). I was very sceptical regarding Vista and I was surprised how well it worked after playing with it.

I do not trust Microsoft. My XP desktop runs without any "Genuine Advantage" and I will keep it that way. With Vista this is getting impossible.

But then the laptop is my working tool, so I'm not that worried about it. I have the automatic updates on and have no issues. So, after avoiding Vista like the plague initially, I am now pleasantly surprised that it has less crashes and proves more reliable than any other new OS by Microsoft that I have installed.

Yes, there are crashes. Yes, some functions are well hidden. But I got used to it and now await SP1 to see if it does anything to this system.
