The model of power supply doesn't come up when searched.

    M2N-MX uses an ATX PS.

It is not an area I have been interested in researching.

Apparently, the EATX uses a 24 pin power connector. An ATX system uses a 20 pin connector, but from what I see/know, an ATX system may have an extra 4 pin connector on a different place on the motherboard (4 leads, two yellow and two black).

When I searched for ATX/EATX, I see there are adapters for the main motherboard power connectors (20 to 24 pin).

The extra 4 pins are for additional power to the CPU. From what I see, the 24 pin connector (EATX) includes those extra pins with the main power connector for the motherboard You should find that the 20 and 4 pin connections are separate on the PSU you have.

From what I have read, the system may work with only the 20 pin connector (you will find it fits in one end of 24 pin m/b connection), but it needs to be quite a powerful PSU, I saw 350 Watts mentioned, but that may only run the basic hardware.

If the PSU is 500 Watts (by the model number) and not a cheap generic brand, investigate getting the 20 to 24 pin adapter. If not, just get a decent modern PSU. I have been using Coolermaster PSUs and they are going well.

You definitely will need an adapter. I had to purchase an adapter recently when I purchased a 500watt PSU with 2 Ball bearing cooling fans:cool:.They are available for about 8 or 9 Dollars. Be careful that you get the right configuration! They come in 24 to 24. 20 to 24 and 24 to 20. (this refers to male and female ATX ends) Hope this helps you in deciding what to do as it may be easier to replace the PSU with exactly the same as the original. Your choice. Neil. :D
