What's the easiest/best way to make a mirror image of one hardrive onto another? Such as my 4 gig hardrive is almost full with SP2 and I want to transfer the entire contents to a 10 gig hardrive.

I've tried using backup utility but haven't had much luck with it.

I liked the old Windows 98 method where I could plug the new hardrive into the IDE cable where the CD drive was connected and go through DOS window (through Windows itself) and just dump everything at once but I don't think Windows XP supports DOS.

If money is an issue, you can get a Ghost boot disk from an older version and image the drive and then redeploy it on the new one. It's offered for free HERE.

DiscWizard - Free of Charge (conditions apply)

Provided at least one of your hard drives is Seagate or Maxtor, you can download the DiscWizard for free from http://www.seagate.com/ww/v/index.j...toid=d9fd4a3cdde5c010VgnVCM100000dd04090aRCRD

You run the DiscWizard and the old disk will clone to the new one. Be careful at each steps. Don't mix up.

get an older version of Norton Ghost that creates a bootable diskette
    works like a charm
go you can clone the image from one drive to the new one
you often boot off a windows 98 boot disk or cd and then run the ghost program off the diskette

I also recommend XXCLONE highly. It's free and very user friendly. I have used it several times for duping my system to another drive to use for a test dummy, It works great - even sets up the dual boot. Just make sure you get the target and source listed properly since cloning backwards is always a big bummer.
