Salvaging files from laptop w broken LCD

I have a Toshiba Sat A35-S1592 which sustained a broken LCD. Have plugged in another screen which activates but then shuts down. Meanwhile the Sat. monitor also is partially on (abt. 1/5 of screen). How do I toggle the laptop LCD off and the regular monitor screen on so I can go in and retrieve my files. Also anybody know where I can find a DOA Tosh. Satellite laptop so I can resurrect the damaged unit?

 

If you can't rt click and see enough of the screen and change monitors then...

You need a device like this then hook it to a Desktop and copy from 1 drive to the other.
