Where does that video come from? What format? Does it happen to all videos?

Hi Broni, Sorry for the confusion, The video came in an email and I downloaded it from there. I don't know the format???? can you explain? When I first downloaded it it was fine, then after awhile it turned blue and white. Since then ALL videos, that I download from a website I have accessed or an email I get, are either blue and white or black and white. HOWEVER! If I click on any news videos on my MSN homepage the videos works fine and the color is OK. I'm sorry I can't explain it any clearer, it seems as though the problem comes when I download a video from a website that I access or an email I recieve. I have Windows XP Pro SP2, Internet Explorer 7.0, and Windows Mediaplayer 11. My file system is NTFS. Thanks JIm

What exactly happened? It wouldn't install, or it shows same problem as WMP?

    I see. Now, it's clear.
    1. Since VLC has all necessary codecs build-in, I don't think, this is a codec problem, but just to be sure, read here: http://www.jakeludington.com/dv_hac..._black_and_white_in_windows_media_player.html
    2. Secondly, check in WMP, that Use High Quality Mode is unchecked in Tools > Options... > Performance > Video acceleration > Advanced...
    3. In VLC...
    Settings>Preferences>Video"
    Uncheck "Overlay video output"
    Click "Save "
    Restart VLC.
    4. Do you have nVidia video card?
    5. Try updating video drivers.

Hi Broni, Well I looked at everything on your list and it all checks out, in WMP the " USE HIGH QUALITY MODE " was UN-checked! I updated the video drivers, I downloaded the GSPOT and did what they said to check the codecs and they all checked out. But I still have blue and white videos. I don't know if I have a Nvidia video card, how can I find out? Do you have any more suggestions in your bag of tricks?? Thanks , Jim

    Go Start>Run, type in:
    devmgmt.msc
    Click OK.
What do you have listed under Display Adapters?
Any yellow "? ", or "!" marks in Device Manager?

all kinds of color in Media Player now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Broni, HEY, HEY, HEY!!!!! I don't know exactly what happened but I have color back in my Media Player. There must have been something missing in my system because when I ran the "sfc/scannow" the XP cd ran alot. It must have replaced more than just what the color needed because now the Index in the Help and Support Center works again, and we tried for a long time to try to fix it and never could. I appreciate all your patience and knowledge, we fixed it my friend. Thanks, Jim
