    Hi,

I have a WINXP SP2 system, this past week I installed Linux Ubuntu on a separate partition. Now when I boot, I get a screen that allows me to choose which system I want to boot into.

The first one in the list is Ubuntu and I have to scroll down to WinXP to select it. If I make no selection, after so many seconds Ubuntu is automatically selected.

Is there a way to change the OS boot order so that WinXP appears first in the list and then boots into WINXP if no selection is made?

Another related question, when I first installed Ubuntu, the install got hosed because my CD drive died so I had to start over. The original install attempt also show up as a boot option. Is there any way to delete that selection?

    Thanks!

    Boot Order-

Control Panel->System icon->Advance Tab->Startup and Recovery Settings button -> pretty easy to figure out from there.

Thanks but that doesn't work. It only lists WINXP in there and it's set up as the default OS. It doesn't list Ubuntu at all.

What happens is when I reboot, I get a boot menu that lists Ubuntu first and if I don't scroll down and select WINXP, it will automatically select Ubuntu.

Is there some way to edit it via a command line option or from the boot menu itself?

    Edited to add:
Never mind, I found the answer. I had to approach it from the Linux side of the house. A bit of googling turned up the solution here. I probably should have tried googling first. :)

    Anyway, thanks for the reply.

Yea, it depends which boot loader you use. I triple boot with Ubuntu / Win XP / Vista and use the Vista boot loader.
