Hello guys. Just new to the forum, i have a question regarding my home internet network.
I currently have BT Broadband in my home, using this wirelessly via the free BT Homehub router. This is fine for all of my general internet needs, however i've just purchased a playstation 3 and intend to do quite a bit of online gaming.
With the positioning of the router in our home the playstations only getting about 40% signal strength which i'm not sure will be all that great for demanding online games, i'm guessing a wired connection would be much better? Moving the router isn't an option, so i can't run an ethernet cable directly from that to the playstation. Is there anyway i can obtain a wired connection from any of the telephone points in my bedroom? By simply plugging in another router or similar?
Forgive my iggnorance i'm completely un educated when it comes to networking.
Thanks in advance for your help guys. :)

    Hi fraserbottomley,

Its not possible in IMHO to get wired lan to work over telephone cables/points. Why don't you just try playing games & see what happens ?

Can you move your router higher as this could give you some additional strength?

I'd suggest you have a look at the network over mains options that are now available. They should give you bandwidths/speeds at least comparable with the best wireless performance. As the signal passes over the mains electrical system, you should have available point to connect in anywhere you have electrical devices installed..

Have a look at the Google UK search result for plenty of options:

    ReggieB,

I also almost gave the same suggestions, but since I have no experience of the same (network over mains) I refrained from doing so.

I would like to hear from all the guys (and gals too) if they have used/seen this kind of solution and what are their comments about it. Would make life of many of us much more comfortable.:D
