    Hi All,

I am new to BBS. I am facing a problem and was searching for the solution. And I saw a thread here in BBS for the same problem.

Thread "Task manager closes after a second or so... " started on 24th May 2007. I am facing same problem as described in that thread. But I didnt find the solution for the problem. the problem is...

    • Task manager closes itself when I try and view processes running
    • when I try and select "file view" - view hidden folders, explorer closes itself
    • when i try to install some softwares, the install window disapears after some "next>> next" clicks

I have formatted the whole system (my hard drive) and installed the Windows XP on it. I am seeing this problem after this fresh install too :(

Please help me get rid of this problem ...

    Hi vijayhegde
    Welcome to Windowsbbs. :)

This may or may not be a malware problem.

So lets have a look. Please do the following.

Please download and install HijackThis and Run a scan then close HJT, then run Deckard's System Scanner and post the main.txt log here. Links and instructions here.

    Thanks
    Geri

    Hi Geri,

I think problem got solved. I ran Nortan Anti Virus on my system with the latest updates. It found a virus named WIN32.Silly... on my system and on removing that everything is working fine.

But I am still stuck with a mystery, why I was facing this problem though I formatted my system fully (full hard disk) and freshly installed the XP? How that virus sustained after the format?

    Thanks
    Vijay
