For the last month or so about once a week (at least) my mail disappears from OE. Sometimes when I open OE it's just gone, other times (like the last time) it was when I switched identities. I had about 50 messages... 1/2 of which I hadn't read yet... I switched identities, then when I switched back they were all gone! Not in any folders, nothing!! :(

I have everything UNchecked in "maintenance" under tools. Do you need to know anything else?

I don't know where they go or why.

Anyone ever have this problem?? How can I find my lost mail? How can I stop it?

Help please!! I did a search and found about OE doubling the e-mails, but nothing on them disappearing.

    Thanks in advance.

PS. I'm using Windows 2000 Pro

I don't know whether or not you'll be able to recover what's been lost. I doubt it. To minimize the risk of it happening again, go to Tools > Options > Maintenance > remove the check from Compact messages in the background.

If you use McAfee e-mail scan, this, too, has been known to cause the sort of trouble you've described.

    Thanks, but...

    Thanks, but...

I've already unchecked that part and I'm not using McAfee.

I am running Zone Alarms. Think that may have something to do with it?

Is there any kind of virus that may be doing this that I could scan for?? If so, what could it be? And, what scan program do you recommend?

    TXS!

The only other thing I can think of right now would be some problem with "Identities ".
