strange windows start screen!

My boot drive is dead so I replaced it with another drive and reinstalled win2k pro. Everything went ok except I had a tough time reinstalled the ATI radeon 7000 pci driver. Finally it works but I got a screen without any icons: no "my computer ", no "recycle bin" ... How do I fix it?

Later: oof. I was happy too soon. After I rebooted, I lost all desktop's icons. All except one since the icon of "shortcut of As-Watch 2007" was still there. This is becoming frustrating! Somebody will help?

BTW. My radeon card is a 9250 pci with 258mb and can used with 2 monitors. I am not familiar with this kind of video card but it may be the cause of my problem.
