Is anyone aware of suitable software that can actually advise if the email has arrived at its destination.

I am aware of (red) read notifications but I am really wanting to know if my emails are arriving.

    Thanking you

    Hi,
Yes, you need Outlook or an email client and is configured for the email server. If you receive an email message that means, the mail message has reached its destination. If not then you need to go to http://member.dnsstuff.com/pages/tools.php?ptype=free
and test your email for validity

This just relates to one email address that I am not getting any response from...does it mean anything to you.
Also, you might like to on my behalf from your ISP send a test email to this address TKaraan.Interplast@surgeons.org and see if it gets through from your end/Isp and advise me of the outcome as I am sensing that my ISP is possibly not performing as it aught.

    Thanks

    Analysis:
    Number of hops: 20
Last hop responding to ICMP: 16, UDP: 17, TCP: 0.
There appears to be a firewall at 203.94.131.52 (hop 17) that blocks ICMP (ping) packets.
There appears to be a firewall at (hop 18) that blocks unwanted UDP packets.
There appears to be a firewall at 74.53.59.130 (hop 1) that blocks unwanted TCP packets.

    Legend:
ECN was used on the TCP packets.
T1/T2/T3 are the round-trip times in milliseconds (1/1000ths of a second).
    T1 uses a proper ICMP-based tracert (Microsoft style). T2 uses a UDP-based traceroute (Unix-style). T3 uses a TCP-based traceroute (port 80).
Since many ISPs now block ICMP and/or packets to unknown ports, T3 (rarely used by traceroute programs) typically shows the best results.
Best times may be theoretical (if it takes 80ms to hop 10, and 50ms to hop 11, we say the best time for hop 10 is 50ms).
If no reverse DNS entry is given for an IP, we display 'unknown.example.com' if the domain name is known.

    Hi Mike,
Thanks for that, however what does the above really suggest?
Does it truly indicate that it was delivered...whether or not it has been opened?

I would like to know how you did this so in future I can do it also.
It would seem to me that this indicates that it is a legitimate address and possibly nothing more than that.

The email addresses that I am concerned about whether my emails are actually arriving at are folk that I regularly communicate with as it seems from time to time delivery to their address at times just does not happen.

Then again it could be that either their settings or those of their ISP prohibits delivery.

If that is the issue I would at least like to know what happened to the emails sent as it remains a mystery to me the sender and the recipient.

Any further assistance appreciated.....Oh yeh, not much point me discussing this with my ISP as they don't even answer my emails to them.

    Hi Roy

Finally last night I got a reply from that email address. Person named Terese

    replied: Recieved!

On the ping I should have clarified I pinged the Domain name less the email address.

A tool to verify the existance of an email address: there are many of these this one is most relable I think. Using it this email address passed.

Thanks Mike, but that software just confirms the validity of the address.

What I am after is software that actually confirms delivery.

As their site says..any server can block your email from being delivered to the recipient, for which AOL has gained an unsavoury reputation.

    Hi Roy

Other than sending a read receipt request that the receiver can decline I do not believe there is any way.

Thanks for that Mike, but I do request a receipt in all emails I send though some folks just don't/won't receipt you.

The alternative to that is http://www.msgtag.com/home/which seems to be the poor alternative to that which I am seeking.

Forget it, there is no guarantee that your email is delivered let alone a receipt will be returned. My domain will initially accept any email but unless sent to a valid mailbox, it will end up in the bit bucket. No receipts will ever be sent unless the user requests this (and since there is only one user -me- that's not going to happen).

If you really need acknowledgment of mail then send by registered post.
