It doesn't happen every time, but occasionally when I boot up my system in the morning, I get an error saying that Windows Firewall is not turned on and I am at risk. I check the system immediately, and it is always the same - Windows Firewall IS turned on and it appears to be fully operational and working fine. Any ideas what is causing this?

Please note that I am also running the paid version of AVG and Webroot

Hi, Cate. Welcome to Windows BBS! :)

Is the error message from Windows or from another application such as AVG or Webroot?

What is the exact wording of the entire error message?

AVG Anti-Virus, AVG Anti-Spyware, AVG Internet Security, AVG Anti-Virus plus Firewall, or some other AVG application?
    (Which application and which version?)

Webroot Spy Sweeper, Webroot AntiVirus (with AntiSpyware & Firewall), Webroot Desktop Firewall, Webroot Window Washer, or some other Webroot application?
    (Which application and which version?)

NOTE: One should not run two or more software firewall applications concurrently. The firewalls may conflict with each other for control over network traffic (which might also cause the error messages you have seen).

Likewise, one should not run two or more anti-virus applications concurrently (if using memory-resident protection in more than one anti-virus application).

Anti-spyware applications might also conflict with each other if their memory-resident "guards" are running concurrently.
