    WinXP SP2; OE 6.0; IE 6.0.

Hello, I never created a duplicate identity. The original identity, call it ID1, had a list of 21 folders. I opened its duplicate, ID2, and it had a list of 15 folders. It would be easy to delete the shorter duplicate ...but it gets complicated:

    1. ID1 has several folders that ID2 doesn't have, and viceversa.

    2. The KB amounts of each folder in both duplicates are the same, but sometimes different. When different, they can be enormously different!

I searched Google, got many items...but not close enough. Would anyone know how to import the folders from the duplicated identity into the original identity please? The duplicated identity is NOT in an open email as the original is...

It is in a backed up "ID Folder" in my desktop, and by clicking on it and on the subsequent folders, I finally got to the identity folder with the long names/letters, and then to the contents of the duplicated identity which are: inbox, sent, drafts, etc. with .dbx endings, plus the folders I created too. It's from here that I must import or somehow transfer them into my original identity. Is it possible? Once I have all inbox, sent, draft, etc. folders into the original identity, I could tell whether to blend or delete...

It's difficult for me to explain it and I hope it's clear to you? I'd appreciate SO much someone's help! :) Adela

    Clarification: OE Identities Duplicated....

    WinXP SP2; OE 6.0; IE 6.0.

Hi, I realize my previous question had a lot of complicated info. perhaps not necessary? Bottom line is:

How to import or somehow transfer the inside folders (inbox, drafts, etc. ending with .dbx) from a backed up identity folder on my desktop, into my working identity which is in full use?

I'm a newbie but tried it and didn't work. Hope someone has an answer? Thanks so much for any help! Adela

Hello again, Steve, after trying and trying I realize the system refuses each time because I don't seem to have the Folder Directory while in the import browsing page. What I had done was click on the items under My Documents where I had copied that backup folder to...

Do you happen to know why the Folder Directory doesn't show up when I browse in the import page?

Thanks so much for any ideas... Adela

Just a guess....The identities folder probably looks something like->

    {E5C4B58E-0072-4A0E-BA21-DD32793F2322}

Might try renaming it. OE might no let you see the files since you're in a different identity.

Yes, each identity looks something like that. By renaming, you mean giving it a different long names/letters? Do you know how to do the renaming? Thanks again Steve. Adela

Find the folder and right click on it and select Rename. Rename it to anything. OLD would work.

Oh seems so easy! I'll go and try it. Thanks again! Adela

P.S. BTW Steve do you know how to delete one identity in the Run window? In my tryings I pasted into it a bad identity and I don't seem to be able to delete it. I did this many times - clicked on "Browse ", it shows all the identities I pasted into, then highlighted the bad one and clicked "delete" but it remains there...

*** BE VERY CAREFULL with the following. ***

Clear Unwanted Entries from the Start Menu's Run Command

    Run the Registry Editor (REGEDIT).
    1)Open HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\
    Explorer\ RunMRU\.
2)Delete all of the values that you dont want in this key (everything in the
    right pane, except for (Default)).
3)Close the Registry Editor when finished. You'll probably have to refresh
the Desktop or restart Windows for this change to take effect.

Oh thank you! I'm always afraid to go into the registry, but I did and found all the steps you so kindly gave me, and also found the bad entry and others that I don't need. Should I also delete MRUlist?

    Thanks again Steve! :) Adela

Yes, thanks so much again, Steve. I'm so happy I was able to do it without problems, as I find them when trying to fix other things. LOL! Adela
