I read somewhere that the MS Automatic Update check feature takes a fair amount of processing, so even tho I already have it checked to Notify But Don't Download and I check it manually every week on my own, I decided to turn it off completely.

Now, whenever I reboot, I get a pop-up warning telling me it is turned off (duh!). Anyway to get rid of the pop-up?

Control Panel > Security Center on the left side of the screen click on "Change the way Security Center alerts me" and untag the box for Automatic Updates.

Go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services > set Security Center service to "manual ". Reboot.
