I have a MS Wireless Optical Mouse 3000 I use with my Toshiba Satellite A105-S4084 Laptop that has quit working. The battery is good. When I go to control panel and click the Mouse icon, I get the following message..Unable to connect to the synaptics pointing device driver.

I click OK and the mouse properties screen open's. All seem to be OK there. Anyone have any suggestion's?

    Win XP Home
    IE 7

Have you pressed the "connect" type button on the bottom of the mouse or receiver?

Thanks Steve for the timely reply. Yes, I have pressed the connect button on mouse and receiver but no help. The light on bottom of mouse is on constantly. I have also changed the receiver to 4 different USB hubs.

I have several MS 3000 notebook mice. The original one has a usb connector shaped like a "J ", the lower rounded section rotates. That mouse occasionally cuts out due to a poor connection in that rotating section. Newer 3000 mice have a "stick-like" usb connector and all continue to function normally. Which do you have?

Thanks TonyT, Guess I have the "Stick-Type ". Nothing rotates on my receiver.

    OK.
Well I have found that nothing ever goes awry w/ those mice except for battery. Using brand new battery?

Thanks again TonyT, Seems that it was the battery. The one that was in it had about a 75% charge. I just got home from work and installed a new one and mouse works great.

    Yup!
I use rechargable batteries for mine and I'm due to replace the lot of them as they all get used for mice, mini-maglites and a camera...plus whatever the kids happen to use them for. In general, I get about 3 months/mouse after a recharge.

The very nice thing about the 3000 mouse is that it uses just one battery!
