Hi guys, Just had 4 days of unusual comp start. I would push start button and FDD - CD drives Lights would all come on and off and fans would start and Green light would stay on but NO BEEP no POST no Win XP on screen. Just black screen. I would hold start button in for 5 seconds and shut down, then push start button again and computer would start quite normally and everything worked perfectly.I searched forums and Googled and found a suggestion that said to Pull the power plug to PC and push in and hold START Button for 1 minute. Then reconnect power and start in usual way. Hey it worked. Any ideas what would cause this phenomenon?:confused:Neil.

You could nhave a failing power supply. Removing the cord and holing the power button IN will release all the energy stored in the power supply's capacitor, which can be a very latge amount of electricity. If the capacitor is failing, or other power supply component is failing, you can experience the issues you are having.

You may want to grab a new power supply and see it the issue recurrs. If not, return the new power supply and tshoot further.

Hi Tony, I had installed a new PSU about 5 months ago, so I will reinstall old unit 400W cap. as it was perfectly OK and the new one I installed was 500W cap. Will advise results later. Thanks Neil.

I'm back again Tony and I changed the PSU over and the Comp started up straight away - Beep (POST) - and so far so good. Looks like I may be seeking a refund on the Hyena 500W ATX12V Ver2.2 PSU with twin cooling fans. Neil
