Hello, I am unable to get into my computer. When I try to start it up, it gets stuck in a loop, it says it can't start up and offers Last Good Start Up, Safe Mode, Normal and a couple of other safe modes for startup. Unfortunately none of them work and it just keeps looping through the same screen. I have purchased another computer since the problem one is over 4 years old and was due to be replaced. My main problem is all of my music is on there and I really don't want to have to reload all my cds again. Also there are several things that I can't replace, that I thought I had back ups for but can't find. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Please keep in mind I am not very good with computers, I don't know about hardware stuff beyond the whole piece.

    Thanks,
    Kim

Begin repeatedly tapping the F8 key when you start the computer to enable the Advanced Start menu. Select 'Disable Automatic Restart'. This should cause the computer to stop on a blue screen (BSOD) with an error message instead of looping. Post the information in that error message here.

Do you have the ability to burn a cd? What burning software do you have, eg; Roxio, Nero, etc.?

A fast fix would be to remove your hard drive and put it in a working computer and copy the files directly from one drive to another.

Thank you for the replies. I will try the first and if I can find one, the second if the first doesn't give me any answers.

    Won't start eh!

OK KIM: I have the same problem, going on for 1 .5 weeks, try repair the O/S, but '0' can anyone assist you, not enough information, check as I am currently the other historical same problems in the forum, and google it, and check out the majorgeeks as well. You prematurely threw out the pc, rather bought an new one, get updates, if you get 'IN', and run anti spyware for certain, that could be the problem. I had 15 malaware in my pc, which I thought was 'clean'. Also see, www.nku.edu/~eudora/safemode.htm for starter's - an insight. You keyboard will not allow you to move the up/down 2 keys, ifit's in locked = green light. But the forum major geeks, same thing may help as well, some dialogue there, don't believe it's insurmountable. Also maybe an inproperly installed hardware, or Invidea driver, examine that. Failing which, try taking the PC, [what type & O/S, to an consultant, it's worthe the $75., maybe that's what I'll have to do.
But mine, alway's works in safe mode, and the I'm 100% OK. Just won't start-up, or even shut down, at that 'initial stage, But, reinstalling the at least Wins XOHome, the XPProf... has an restoration feature, in it's many Office products. very helpful Of course into Vista, you have to have an pc-machine powerful enough to handle/capacity.
Which I presume, you do now. Failing all that. If, you give up, destry the H.D., and give the machine to charity, it end's up in India, or an thrid world country, where some of these people, do amazing thing's in repairing them, or at least find a way to clean the old HD disk - C, and include that as well. So Long, it can be an long process,
I even bought an new 80 Gig. H.D., helped an bit, back to same problem, likely an missing software piece, but could be anything at this stage. Good Luck. I'm going to wander thru all the forum here, bet an $100., the 'answer is in there', for we 'never', are the first, to experience these such problems, there have been likely million's, similarly-experienced. But determining the problem source, is the first, and worst of it all, and most expensive as well, ie: time, and energy. So Long. eh! + k
