    hi bbs team,

recently i've been unable to open some web pages that previously i could view

i get the usual page windows can not display the page with three most common issues
    • connextion
    • web site having problems
    • typing error

i've done what i can to test these so i think i can rule the first and last out,
because it happening more and more its very unlikely thats it the second

here are some of the other thing i've tried none of them have worked so have put them back

changing my security level in internet options,
some of the sites were https//
so i tried enabling ssl 2.0, 3.0 and tls 1.0

i did have some anti virvus software that controled my setting what all these were i was unsure so i tried running IE with no add-ons

oh yes i'm running IE7 on windows xp
:rolleyes:erm.. i don't know what else so ask me later

but i really am at a lose now
today i got my new hard drive
so i thought starting fresh might resolve something
i've not installed any of my old programs
just windows up-dates and IE7 still nothing

hopefully this is something simple i keeping my fingers crossed

oh my isp is a cable firm type of thing in case that makes a difference
:confused:proxy servers is WWwwaay over my head

please say some1 knows what this is

    thanks in advance

    AP

    firefox

yep downloaded and tried fierfox with a site i'm trying to download an ebook from at the moment i cant think of the other sites so its just this one that i know i am having problems with i already been in contact with there support team and they say the link and server and what ever else their end is ok

so any way got more of a detailed message
    The connection has timed out

The server at ebook.lightningsource.com is taking too long to respond.

    * The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
    moments.

    * If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
    connection.

    * If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

i am using comodo firewall i think its permitted

    OK, then.

    In Windows XP, go Start>Run
    In Vista, go Start>StartSearch

    Type in:
    cmd

    In Windows XP, click OK.
    In Vista, hit Enter.

    Command Prompt window will open.
    Type in:
    regsvr32 wuapi.dll (<----watch for "space" after "regsvr32 ")
    Hit Enter.

Repeat same regsvr32 command for following files:
    • wuaueng.dll
    • wucltui.dll
    • wups.dll
    • wuweb.dll
    • atl.dll
    • softpub.dll
    • wintrust.dll
    • initpki.dll
    • mssip32.dll

Restart computer, and try to access web site(s) in question again.
