    Hi Everyone,

This is my first post here so Hi!

I'm very new to computers and this forum seems like a good one for me.

Anyway, I was looking on line trying to find out why I keep getting this message when I visit a web-site:

To view this FTP site in Windows Explorer, click Page, and then click Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer.

    And how to fix it.

    Thanks
    Joe

    FTP means File Transfer Protocol

Are you wanting to transfer a file from a web site to your pc?

    No.

What I was trying to do was download a program (KOffice) but it seemed I needed to download another program first, ...then another program.

Well, I got the first program downloaded (Cygwin Bash Shell) that ended up being another command prompt, so now I have two.

When I went to download the other program (GCC) that's when I got the FTP page. Right after I wrote this topic I figured out that all I had to do was click "View" then "allow FTP." Simple!

But, after getting pass the FTP page I ended up with a File to download. I didn't know how or where I was suppose to put it as it seemed I was suppose to put it somewhere inparticular.

I understand a little about uploading FTP Files but not downloading them.

I really would like to be able to download the original "KOffice" as it has some very good art programs I need.

I'm not sure if I can post the GCC web-site so you could see it. But it appears to be some kind of programming language and they seem to be talking about building a system or something.

It seems to be a lot about Java and I've read Java is very good and very hard for virus to get into too.

    Thanks
