Copyright prevents me from adding the text here but if you go to this link you will be able to change the location of your temp directory.

    nihaojs,

I don't think you'll be able to do that with any burner software.

I use Stomp by Veritas and it creates the directory C:\~cevts_001_tmp.dir if it doesn't exist. I delete when finished just for laughs.

I've looked within the software and it has no selectable option for changing that directory location. I'm guessing you would like to put it on another drive, as I do.

I suppose if you had the ability to reverse compile the software, you could change the hard coded instructions for that but then if you had that talent, you wouldn't be asking, would you? :)

Good luck. Post back and share if you ever find anything. I'll do the same.

    Well, copyright doesn't prevent me.
Put these lines your autoexec.bat file.
    Set temp=c:\whatever
    Set tmp=c:\whatever
If the software is hard coded as per Zephyr, this won't affect it. It will affect anything else. I use f:\temp myself.

Note that what markp62 does with autoexec.bat will only work if
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\ParseAutoexec is present and the value is set to 1.

I don't think any of that will help poor nihaojs though since the burners normally create their own temp folders on the fly. I think they do that in order to have an exclusive one for their purpose. I expect they can't tolerate any other files being commingled with their copied material.

    Am I missing something here?

I have Roxio's Easy CD Creator 5.3 and Ahead's NeroExpress 5.5 installed, and both of them will allow you to set the burner's temporary directory to whatever folder you choose.

    Window XP buring function

Thanks for your reply! May be I miss leading my question. I know in some burning software you can set temp dir by your self. I am using none of them. I am using function which Win XP has, 'copy files and folders to a CD'. Every time when I copy file to CD-RW, window xp will first copy all files to 'c:.....local setting...CD-Buring...'. I would like to know whether I can change this dir by myself.

    Thanks!

Yes, you can. You could edit the Registry, but more than half a dozen entries would have to be changed, and that approach just isn't worth the aggravation. :D

The easiest way to do it is to download and install TweakUI XP. Once installed, open it and click on the + sign beside My Computer, then on Special Folders. The first one listed should be CD Burning; click on the Change Location button, click Yes in the warning message, and navigate to the desired folder, which must already exist (it won't create the folder for you).

That should do it. Good luck!

Thank you, Jim! With TweakUI XP. I made it.

    Nice weekends!
