I want to keep my Word documents in chronological order .....they are chapters in a geneology book we have done.....but when we drag them to a folder they become alphabetized. I see no way to defeat this "alpha" system.

To beat the system - rename the files.

    1_Doc
    2_Doc
    etc

    Use numbers to sort documents

Place a one, two, or three digit number at the beginning of each document.

    For Example:
    00 In the beginning.doc
    01 A war started.doc
    02 Boundaries were set.doc
    03 There was peace.doc
04 He lived happily to the end of his days.doc

As you will notice, the first character of each document is not in alphabetical order. I've been using this method of sorting for years. It's also very affective for sorting folder as well.

If you only have a handlful of file use a one of two digit number...for mor than a hundred go to three of four.

    Good luck...
