screen saver not working after installing spybot S&D

Hi,
I use WinXP Pro, AMD x64 and no wireless mouse. My system is also an HP media center. the screen saver was working with no problem for well over 6 months and after installing spybot S&D I started having the problem. I could easily do a system restore but a. I just uninstalled and updated my virus & spam programs and b. I'm curious what it is I need to fix.

Also, msconfig will no longer allow me to resort the entries. not a huge problem but one that I use and would like it to continute to work.

Although I don't use Spybot anymore, and what I say will be heresay, I have read that it is has issues of late. Wait for someone in the Spyware forum here for a better explanation or possibly an endorsement.

In the meantime, uninstall it and see if your problems disappear. That might be the best proof that it doesn't play well with your particular system.

FWIW, I use SpywareBlaster in conjuction with AdAware after having problems a few years ago with Spybot. AdAware never finds anything so I presume SpywareBlaster is working its magic. I also use CookieJar to dump all cookies at boot except those I have chosen to allow and save.

Thank you for the recommendations. I had stopped using Spybot and then was having some systems problems and wasn't sure what other option to take. I had recommended them for a long time to people and it worked well so was hopting that would be the case. Off to uninstall and try your suggestions. Will post results...thanks!

seems the browser event id 8032 is an issue and other events...although i don't think either has relevance to screen saver. am going to download spywareblaster and see if there is an issue after i resolve the browser and the WIA service hanging on startup. I know the WIA has to do with scanner and cameras so I changed the service to manual for now. thanks for your help. I think there are many issues going on and will have to address each one (master of the obvious) individually.
