When i attempt to do a virus scan using NOD32 or Ad Adware the computer restarts 30% into the scan.

i want to know if it has something to do with the false "critical system errors "
i was receiving just a short while ago.

to get rid of those messages i just used the comcast tool bar spyware scan to delete them.

also the comcast tool bar cant seem to quarantine zlob on my computer. (does this have anything to do with my computer restarting when atempting to scan for viruses and what not?)

any suggestions on how to fix my problem?

Whenever a computer just pops off and restarts, especially when doing something that would require high processor usage (such as an AV scan), it is a sure indication that the processor is overheating.
A processor that is beginning to die would cause seemingly random critical system errors.
I couldn't that this is your problem with any certainty, wait for other responses on here.

Would help to have details of your computer, particularly its motherboard. You might run Belarc Advisor and study the log it creates. Better if you have a manual. There are settings in the BIOS (Setup Program) that cause the computer to shut down if the temp gets too high, and adjusting the setting upwards to a still not dangerous level may relieve the problem temporarily at the same time it may confirm the diagnosis. The treatment is something a beginner should leave to a shop if one is available.

You can shut off the auto restart and when the computer blue screens, write down the error you receive and post it here. To do that, go to "System" in the Control Panel, then "advanced" tab and untick "automatically restart ". You could also check the event log in Administrative Tools and post the errors corresponding to the restarts here. Without knowing the errors the machine is generating, it's hard to guess at whether you have a software or hardware problem.
