    Hello all..

I'm having trouble with my windows XP Media Centre. I re-arrange my desktop to my liking, and work for a day or two, but whenever I logoff or restart, the start menu is in its default position, on the bottom (I Normaly have it on the left side). Also, I cannot toggle "Show hidden files/folders ". I am administrator, it gives no errors, yet it doesn't change a thing, and when I re-open the menu, its stil in it's default position.

This is realy frustrating, since I like to explore, and some of the open source software I use saves settings in hidden folders . Please help me if you can.

P.S. This is not a result of my messing arround. I re-installed windows and my software, but to no avail. And I simply do not know what software of mine could cause this. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Do you have Align to Grid checked when you are on your desktop and Icons are showing and you right click on a blank space and go to Arrange Icons By?

no.... My problem is mainly with the startmenu position not geting saved when i logoff, and the fact that i cannot enable or disable my different folder options, like show hidden files. One of the files that explorer uses to save that info is not geting updated, and i do not know what to do..:(

Right click on a blank space on it and make sure that there is no check mark by "Lock the Taskbar ". If there is, left click on it and it will take it away. Now, Left click on it and drag it to where you want it and then right click again and lock it. I hope this is what you are saying.

in explore in the tools menu select folder options.
Select the view tab and then the "reset all Folders" button
Now see if things work like you want them to.
