I have installed Windows Vista SP1 and so far I haven't noticed any problems. I had an issue though when I was trying to install it from Windows Update however. After it downloaded and I clicked to install it it immediatly failed to install. I tried 4 times form Windows Update without success. It failed with error code 5 and 80043511. Finally I said forget it and downloaded the stand alone version. It installed without a problem. If any people can't get Vista SP1 to install I would suggest to try to install it from the stand alone installer package. :)

It took me three times but I got it to install using windows update, so far so good. I kept getting an error code 4C7, and when I clicked for help it said nothing about the error that I got. So far I see no improvement at all. still just as slow as ever at bootup.

Now Vista sees all 4gb of my RAM

I installed SP1 thru Windows Update last night without a hitch. When I checked My Computer to verify that SP1 had indeed installed, Windows now says 4.0 GB RAM. Before SP1 it only showed 3.25GB. I though only the 64bit version of Vista could read past 3GB of memory. I have the 32bit version of Home Premium. I'm not complaining, just pleasantly surprised! :D

Yes, Vista SP1 (x86) will identify (but not use) all your RAM.

    Nope!

With 4GB of RAM there's no point. You will loose any advantage you have with x64 addressing the full 4 GB of RAM by the fact that the memory 'footprint' of x64 is much larger then x86.

Thanks for clearing that up Arie! Now I'm feeling better about having 4gigs in my 32bit system! :D

BTW, so far no glitches at all with SP1!

Same with me. I haven't noticed any problems with SP1 in the week I've had it installed. :) BTW as a side note, if you are sure that you are having no problems with SP1 you can remove the uninstaller files that were created by SP1. You can do this by running Command Prompt as an administrator and then typing vsp1cln.exe and press enter. You will then get a prompt asking if you want to perform this action. Press Y. Thats it! :)

    Fix

I set my pc into safe mode on the 3rd stage of sp1 install and it managed to complete fine - it then wanted activation straight away which I thought was a bit unfair:D
