Is there a "list" of things computers can't do somewhere??
Things that seem they should be do-able
Example: in WORD you can not draw Vertical lines, only horizontal
A document/form scanned in, can not be "filled in ".
there is a space for name, address, etc. but you can not type name, etc in it.
(good thing i still have typewriter)

    Not so :)

Word 2003 - show Drawing toolbar - click on Line icon and within the Drawing Canvas click on the point at which you want the line to start and drag up/down vertically or at any angle within the snap to constraints between vertical and horizontal to get a slanting > horizontal line..
You are scanning in an image of the form - it is possible to write on it in an image editing program. If you want an editable scan you must scan with OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software which is generally supplied in the scanner software bundle for a flat bed scanner. Some forms supplied in Adobe Acrobat format can be filled in and printed out, but not saved with the added text.

    Anything else? :)

I'm about 120 miles south of you in Hollywood. As for the pdf file. The home version will not open a pdf as you need Form Pilot Office to do that. However if you scan the form on your wife system and save it as a jpg instead of pdf then it will open in the home version.

    MIR11,

I’ve used the following technique to fill in forms: Just put your entries into text boxes, select no fill, no border, and drag them into the correct position.

    From Word:
    1.) Insert/Textbox
2.) Draw textbox around area where text will be added
    3.) Select View/Toolbars/Drawing
4.) Line Color; select No Line
5.) Fill Color; select No Fill
6.) Continue now filling in text on the form

This technique can be used at any place text insertion is needed on the document. And the Text Box can be moved around.

To some this may seem to be a little cumbersome, but it does work.:D
