I cannot boot up to another computer(standalone) running windows xp professional 64bit edition due to the listed error msg. I used spotmau professional ver. 2007 and ver.2008 to do a windows recovery but to no avail. I tried booting with a xp pro CD to access the restore console. when I ran bootcfg /rebuild at the {prompt} C:\windows>, after several min. a error failed due to a corrupt system file is displayed.
Ran CHKDSK that indicates that the volume is in good condition.
ran CHKDSK /p and /R respectively. tried running BOOTCFG /Rebuild again, and the same error message is disolayed.

Any info or link where I can get a fresh copy of the system32\ntnoskrnl.exe file? Thanks!

    micros4u - Welcome to the Board :)

You best bet is to make a repair install of Windows - you have the install CD?

Thanks for the reply PeteC. Unfortunately, that's my Dilemma: I don't have the origibal instalation disk, and neither does the customer. Any other suggestions will be greatly appriciated. Thanks again. Take care.

Without access to an x64 CD you are probably up the creek without the proverbial.

If you can lay your hands on a CD boot to the Recovery Console and at the prompt type .....

expand D:\i386\ntoskrnl.ex_ c:\windows\system32 where D is the optical drive.

You will then be prompted if you wish to overwrite the file type Y and press enter to overwrite the file.

Type exit to reboot the computer.

I doubt the file is the same on the Pro version.
