I just bought an MSI P6N SLI Platinum 775 NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI ATX Inter Motherboard along with an Inter core 2 duo E6750 2.66GHz processor but I need to upgrade the video card as well so what do you all think?

    EVGA 256-P2-N615-TX GeForce 7600GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI Supported Video Card - Retail

    or

    EVGA 256-P2-N751-TR GeForce 8600GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI Supported Video Card - Retail

    or anyother suggestions?
I am trying to get an inexpensive yet decent video card with SLI support so later I can add another, I am assuming the 8600GT is better but the 7600 has 5 eggs out of 800+ reviews

Have a look at this comparison (you can choose "any" two cards you want). I would think the 8600GT is the better option if you want to play recent games needing DirectX 10. If not, save a few bucks.

Thanks ill take a look, this is the same as on newegg i believe, the DX10 is nice but everyone is saying they dont want vista yet (as i am the same about it) but the 7600 has a better rating? why?
I just want a good video card for playing some games, nothing serious but I do have Portal ie The Orange Box and stuff like that which I currently cannot run
I think I'll go with a Dx10 card but now do you recommend
EVGA 256-P2-N765-AR GeForce 8600GTS Superclocked 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card

EVGA 256-P2-N768-A1 GeForce 8600GTS SSC 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card

EVGA 512-P2-N756-TR GeForce 8600GT 512MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card

haha sounds like a plan to me but thank you for that comparison tool it came in handy in eliminating the 7600 but I have no clue the difference between an 8600 superclocked and just the 8600 and im assuming the 256 DDR3 beats the 512 DDR2 but theres my lack of expertise, thanks again for your help thus far

Both cards are great - I used a 7600GT OC for a long time.. plays just about everything out there. And when it first launched it was being reviewed as being more powerful than the 8600gt (though that turn out to be a very bad driver they launched with) all in all, if you need DX 10, get the 8600, otherwise they are nearly identical performance wise...

personally i would get the 8600 card if you are running Vista because of the DX10, more games in the future are going to be optimised for DX10 and you could well be upgrading again at the end of the year.

on a side note i have recently upgraded from the 7900 to a 8800, mainly because there is a hugh driver issue with 7000series cards. The main problem being is texture tearing and its happening in every single game, the newer the driver the worse it gets so if you do get a 7600 you may have to roll back to a older driver for it to work correctly. My advice before deciding would be to check out some forums on the net and see what people are writing and what problems they are getting with the 7600 before deciding which way to go.
