I have a question. I just ran across my XP Pro CD the other day. Its XP Pro with SP1. Now back in those days I only had dial up. When SP2 came out I emailed Microsoft and they sent me an SP2 CD.

Is it possible to put SP2 on the XP Pro CD? In other words, is it possible to have everything on one CD? If so how do I do it?

If you're not in a hurry ... ... wait a few months for SP3 and slipstream that one into the original CD!

Slipstreaming, thats the term I could not remember. Thanks guys.

And no I'm not in a hurry, I accidently stumbled onto the XP Pro CD and the SP2 CD because I was going through my old CDs.

    I'll probably wait, thanks again.

    Hi, Ranger. :)

You might also want to take a look at this thread where I rather enthusiastically  provided details about using AutoStreamer to create a slipstreamed Windows installer disc using the Windows XP SP1 CD in one CD drive and Microsoft's SP2 CD in another CD drive.

If you have only one CD drive, then I expect you could still easily slipstream a CD using AutoStreamer.

Thanks Mailman, I'll give that a try. I actually have 3 drives, so no problem.

    It did not work.

The XP Pro CD I have is from Dell, so I am guessing that it contains things that are necessary for my computer. (Example SATA drivers for my Hard Drives and other stuff.)

    Oh Well

There is also a prog called NLite, that will let you slipstreem SP2.

Copy your XP disc to the HDD copy the SP2 file into the same directory, and run NLite, you will need your product key as it incorporates this also, so the install is hands free.

It also lets you select what components of XP you want or don't want installed.

I have used it for some time now and find the system runs faster with having various components not being installed as they are not needed and so save on memory etc.

    colin.
