Hello everyone! My name is Ed, and I have a blue screen of death problem, which annoys me. I've had experience with computers, so I was trying to repair my windows, after it didn't work I started suspecting my video card driver.

Im getting a BSOD every like 10 minutes sometimes, since my comp was turned off for the night right now it works ok, but who knows, it can happen any second.
I wrote down the error that Im getting.

    STOP: 0x000000F4 (0x00000003, 0x866A8500, 0x866A8674, 0x80501142).

I wasnt installing anything lately...but somehting makes me think the video driver is a little corrupted or whatever. dont know, but i looked at other threads and maybe some of you can figure out the problem by the error.

    Thanks!
    -Ed

Hi Ed and welcome to the BBS,

Quick/urgent? Check inside the case for a dust build-up...or check when the computer is running that all the fans are spinning freely.

Has it happened gradually? Has it worked well for a long time and suddenly has problems? Have you changed any software or hardware (particularly regarding video/graphics, as you suspect) lately?

Unless someone can spot a specific problem, you will need to reply with some debug logs:

All we can tell you from the Error message is this .....

    0x000000F4: CRITICAL_OBJECT_TERMINATION
If you post the logs as suggested by Matt we may be able to go further on this, but please note this caveat ....

You most likely have a hardware problem - is the RAM you used - presumably from the old computer, compatible with your new mobo?

    Sorry for triple post.
I got the log from a mini dump.
1 gig dumps take too long, the comp doesnt survive for more than 5 mins about that.
here it is (i hosted it on my website so its not killing the thread here)

There is a small thing called 'time difference' and there are two of us involved in the thread - Matt is in Australia and I am in UK as you should have guessed from my avatar. In addition we are all volunteers here and do not 'live' on the Board so don't expect 24/7 response.

Please post your dump log in a post here as is the norm - we do not go trawling off to other web sites to read them and we would prefer that you used our Dump Data Collection tool.

If you have more dumps debug them and post - a single log is rarely enough and I repeat the caveat .....
Neither Matt nor I are one of those 2 members.

Ed, you can post the log here, there may be problems with off-site links.

As Pete mentioned, not many of us can read the logs in depth (we may be able to see clues though).

You have brought the drive over from your old system and appear to have done a "repair install" to Windows to make it work.

Keep at the back of your mind Pete's suggestion about RAM.

You will need to go to Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs and uninstall any software related to the hardware for the old system.

Have you installed drivers for the new motherboard (chipset) and graphics? You may need to uninstall those old drivers/software first.

I cannot read the dump logs in depth. Something I note though, is that both seem to relate to the drive or file system on the drive.

    Matt

If the error status is 0xC000000E, 0xC000009C, 0xC000009D or 0xC0000185,

I dont think the problem is in RAM. Yes, ive installed the drivers like Pete suggestd and it worked for some time but then I started getting them again after a few hours. I was uninstalling some programs, just the ones I dont need and it helped for another hour or two, but not permanently. About the old drivers, I dont know their names and/or locations because the computer wasnt bought by me...one more notice, i have a different windows folder on my old drive which crashed a while ago, now it works fine, i just dont think should be running windows on it but there is a folder for the old windows. Could that cause the problem? (somehow it didnt before, even before i upgraded my computer but still...)
    Thanks again.

OK - that's the log you posted on your website - let's have some more.
What evidence do you have to support that statement?

I was researching to make sure my RAM is compatitive before I got myself a perfect combination of stuff I need, aka the video card, ram, mb and processor. Here is my stuff:

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6550
    MB: ASUS P5N-E Sli
    Ram: 1 GB DDR2
    Video card: e-GeForce 8600 GT

Dont see a problem in that.

what did you mean by that? You want me to put out the 1 GB log?

No - if your computer is continually bluescreening you should have a memory dump for each. We don't need a full memory dump so go to Control Panel > System > Advanced tab > Startup and recovery > Settings and select Kernel memory dump and uncheck 'Overwrite .....' Debug the logs and post a couple more here - no more unless asked.

In the meantime swap you memory around the available slots and test. Id it's a 1 GB stick straightforward, if 2x 512 Mb run with one, switch around the slots, test and repeat with the other and any other combinations you can yhink of.

Your windows is crashed at win32.sys and it is GDI (graphical Display routine) and your version nVidia Display Card has known software problem. You had better upgrade or downlevel the graphical display card driver.

nv4_mini.sys and the timestamp is 47567B8B
    http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic96545.html
    http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic96848.html

The following driver also have known BSOD problem. You had better upgrade them as better
    emu10k1m.sys Creative SB Driver
    NVNRM.SYS nVidia network resource manager

Your windows also has E-Trust AV and it is also an unstable AV.

wait...it sounds like you have a solution all right except for that it sounds really complicated and my head is going round at the moment especially after i completely wiped out the sql post tables from my site (aka destoying it) so I'm like...split up in 2 halfs right now doing many things at once, so I'm a little slow..

    KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR (7a)
The requested page of kernel data could not be read in. Typically caused by
a bad block in the paging file or disk controller error. Also see
    KERNEL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR.
If the error status is 0xC000000E, 0xC000009C, 0xC000009D or 0xC0000185,
it means the disk subsystem has experienced a failure.
If the error status is 0xC000009A, then it means the request failed because
a filesystem failed to make forward progress.
    Arguments:
Arg1: e231c908, lock type that was held (value 1,2,3, or PTE address)
Arg2: c000009a, error status (normally i/o status code)
Arg3: bf918a9b, current process (virtual address for lock type 3, or PTE)
Arg4: 0c82d860, virtual address that could not be in-paged (or PTE contents if arg1 is a PTE address)
