So heres my issue this round,
i was going to upgrade lots of **** in my tower and I just purchased a Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 Conroe 2.66GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor Model BX80557E6750

is that better than the Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.93GHz?

I know the 2.93 is better but Duo Core??? and the 2.66 is easily overclocked to 3GHz i was reading and im not sure how i would overclock my current one, but its a Celeron....sigh so some input would be awesome, im looking to play some games and not much else on this beast and currently it has a hardware issue causing the BSoD so ive bought a new mobo, ram, and processor, my next upgrade is the video card. is that processor an upgrade/better purchase?

I have built a few computers, most of them were based on AMD which makes my experience with Intel limited. I have done some research, though and any Core2Duo should run in circles around any Celeron. Not only GHz have an impact but also cache size, instructions (what those GHz actually do) and core count.

I have compared the E6750 (2.66 GHz, 4 MB cache, FSB1333) to the E8200 (2.66 GHz, 6 MB cache, FSB1333) ... ... and the latter is cheaper (in Sweden, at least). Based on cost/performance (again in Sweden) my choice would be the E8400 (3.0 GHz, 6 MB cache, FSB1333) which is at the "sweet spot ".

well thanks again for the info I will keep that in mind the next time I decide to try to upgrade my **** I just needed some new parts because its hard to accomplish anything when I get a BSoD every so many randomly selected minutes in the middle of anything and it says hardware error but isnt sure if its ram, only had 1 stick of 512 at the time now i have 2 1gig sticks and a 512 unless the 512 caused the error, decided it was time for a new mobo set up for SLI video cards as soon as pay day rolls around so I can get a new or 2 vid cards. it looks like I paid about the same for the E6750 as I would have for the E8200 only the didnt have the 8200 on newegg as far as I could see but the search is broken atm =(
