Sorry if this question is badly situated but I wasn't sure where it fitted best.

A friend has a small shop. In the back room he has an XP Pro computer. He wants to pipe music into his shop. What's the best way to do this?

It seems to me that there are many alternatives here, both in software and hardware. Obviously, he could also use a straight, non-computer player, but he seems to prefer a pc-based system, possibly because of the ability to easily construct a library.

    Advice would be welcome :)

This falls between hardware and software - I've leaned one way and moved your thread :)

What's wrong with Windows Media Player and long speaker leads? No doubt wireless speaker sets are available too.

Thanks PeteC. Yep, WMP is an option. In fact there's a multiplicity of software players for the PC.

Personally, my choice would probably be WMP or WinAmp or MediaMonkey, running through a big external USB hard drive.

I was just curious to see what solutions other members might come up with, eg solutions that they had either tried and found workable, or had run across in a bar or restaurant.

    Cheers :)
