What version of GoBack? I have XP SP2 home edition and version 3.2 deluxe edition works fine without doing anything.

Certain hardware configurations, those where the motherboard supported fully the Date Execution Prevention, needed to have the GoBack file added to the exceptions list of Data Execution Prevention, and I think that's what he's talking about.

I sure don't remember which file and the exact procedure off hand, but XP's right click My Computer, Properties, and somewhere in there is a tab for Data Execution Prevention, maybe in the hardware Device Manager? I just don't remember and don't have XP installed right now.

Go to symantec and in the support area you will likely find a detailed KB article about GoBack and the instructions for the procedure.

You can also check the read me if it is a newer edition of GoBack as it may have included the instructions right in that, or the manual.

    Hi Eck,

I guess I must be lucky with my hardware configuration because I've never had an issue. Knock on wood.

    In XP SP2 Home edition.

To open System Properties, click Start, click Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance, and then click System.
Click the Advanced tab and, under Performance, click Settings.
Click the Data Execution Prevention tab.

    That's the place!

I didn't need to do that either, but it's the only thing I can think of that the poster may have been referring to.

Either that or he has a very old pre-Roxio (Wildfire, Adaptec) version of GoBack. Nothing would get that working on XP. Roxio GoBack 3 and up through the Symantec Norton versions were all XP compatible. There was one situation where it needed that adding it to the Data Execution Prevention exceptions.
