When I go into windows search I get only a blank pane, the only thing on show is the search assistant. In certain web pages they too are blank or not displayed properly or fully. This includes Hotmail, yahoo mail and Microsoft update page amongst others.

Please help and thanks in anticipation.

Hi railale. Welcome to the board.

Close IE and then click start>run and type the following command.

    regsvr32 urlmon.dll

You should get a message saying as to whether it succeeded in registering the file or not. If it does, then open IE and see if Windows Update and the others work for you.

    Blank panes

Thanks Zander, I followed your instructions and did get successful confirmation that dll had been installed but things are the same, I still cannot get a normal windows search and sites including Windows download are still blank panes.

Good news :) I assume the fix presented in the URL I posted was effective?
